Don’t Quit Now

Of course, if you’re feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, starting a new story is always an option. But if all you do is write the beginnings of stories, that’s not going to get you to where you want to be—the author of a finished novel.

The messiest, worst drafts can become polished, terrific books. To get to your finished draft, you have to be willing to buckle down and do the hard part of revising.

Sometimes, edits that seem like they’ll take forever go more quickly than you expect! So believe in the spark of inspiration that led you to the story in the first place.
